The Daymaker Salon
Privacy policy
What this website collects, what it loads from other companies, and how long anything is kept.
This is the website of The Daymaker Salon, 991 Waukegan Rd, Glenview, IL 60025. You can reach us on (847) 486-9990.
The site is small and so is this policy. There are no accounts, nothing is sold here, there is no newsletter, and there are no advertising trackers. The only thing you can send us is a message.
When you use the contact form
The form asks for your name and phone number, both required, and your email address and a message, both optional. That is everything it takes. We ask for a phone number because a phone call is how we arrange appointments.
What you send is stored in this website's database and emailed to the address the salon has set to receive form messages. Both copies hold the same thing: your name, your number, your email address if you gave one, and whatever you wrote.
We use it to call or write back about what you asked. Nothing else. It is not added to a mailing list, it is not used for advertising, and it is not sold or given to anyone.
Messages are deleted automatically after 12 months. The website moves them to its trash on a daily check, and they are permanently erased thirty days after that. We can delete yours sooner if you ask.
The spam check on the form
The form is protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, which tells real people apart from automated scripts. You will usually not notice it. To do that, Cloudflare receives your IP address and some information about your browser.
We chose Turnstile specifically because it does not make you solve puzzles and, unlike the alternatives, it is not designed to build an advertising profile of you. Cloudflare explains what it does with the data in its privacy policy.
Visitor statistics
We use Google Analytics to see how the site is doing: how many people visited, which pages they read, whether they arrived from a search or a link, and roughly which region they were in. It is a count of visits, not a record of people. It does not tell us who you are and we cannot use it to contact you.
It is set up deliberately narrowly. Your IP address is shortened before it is stored. Google's advertising features are switched off, which means nothing gathered here can be used to show you adverts later, on this site or anywhere else. Google explains its side in its privacy policy and describes how it uses data from sites that use its tools.
The map on the contact page
Our Contact page has a Google Map showing where the salon is. It is worth being straightforward about this one: the map loads as soon as the page does. You do not have to click it. Simply opening that page tells Google you were there and lets Google set its own cookies in your browser, under the same Google privacy policy linked above.
We know that is a real cost and we made the trade on purpose: people looking for a hair salon need to see where it is without having to press anything first. If you would rather not load it, the address is written out in text above the map and at the bottom of every page.
Fonts
The typefaces used here are served by Google Fonts, so opening any page on this site makes a request to Google's font servers. That request includes your IP address. No cookie is set by it.
Cookies
This website sets no cookies of its own. You are not tracked between visits by us.
Three other companies may set them through the things described above:
- Google Analytics sets a cookie to tell a returning visit from a new one.
- Google Maps sets cookies on the Contact page, as soon as it loads.
- Cloudflare Turnstile may set a short-lived cookie while it checks the contact form.
There is no cookie banner on this site. That is a decision, not an oversight. The salon serves Glenview and the towns around it, Illinois has no law requiring consent for cookies, and a banner that everybody clicks past without reading protects nobody. You can block or delete cookies in your browser's settings at any time and this site will work exactly as it does now.
If the salon ever advertises to or markets at people in the European Union or the United Kingdom, this needs revisiting, because their rules do require consent before any of the above loads.
Who else sees your information
Nobody, beyond the companies already named on this page: Google, for statistics, the map and the fonts, and Cloudflare, for the spam check. Our website host stores the site and its database as part of running it.
The web developer who built and looks after this site can also see what you send, because the notification email and the website's own dashboard are both part of what they maintain for us. They work on the salon's instructions and use it for nothing else.
We do not sell your information. We do not share it with other businesses. We do not advertise using it.
Seeing or deleting what we hold
Ask, and we will tell you what we have and delete it. There is no form for this and no account to log into: call the salon on (847) 486-9990 or send a message and say so.
Bear in mind that a message you send asking us to delete your details is itself a message we then hold, so we will deal with it and delete both.
Children
The salon cuts children's hair, but this website is not aimed at children and we do not knowingly collect anything from one. A parent or guardian should make the appointment.
Changes
If what the site does changes, this page changes with it.
